Your right the plot is loose at best, but I did find some parts of it fun to play. But I don't think I could actually tell you what the story is. I don't like the way it jumps between the teams, I found it hard to follow what each person is doing. If I'm honest it seems to me the plot is designed just to make use of the areas they built for the multi-player games.
After spending a few more hours with the multi-player part of the game I am starting to see its charms. It rewards creative play quiet nicely ("X-Ray Vision" reward for just hammering a wall I knew someone was hiding behind was a bonus). But the ability for other people to just pick you off with a single shot from across the map is frustrating (mainly because of their skill). Some of the maps are just great fun (others annoying as hell), I think with a good group of people you know it would be a great night of gaming just to play MC2.

The single player is total ass. A weak plot that doesnt really hold together if you actually look at it, strung together with clumsy mapping some pretty effects and the occasional set-piece. At best it is totally average.
The multiplayer however is slightly different. Once you've played for a couple of hours it becomes a really good casual shooter. Quick to get in to, a fun shoot fest and then a couple of new upgrades. It actually managed to keep me interested. Of course i'm returning my copy for Assassin's Creed II but thats mainly due to fanboyism.
