the good thing with having competition as a driving factor for gaming is you can experience any part of the game form casual to hardcore, as long as you find it similar minded teammates / opponents. So to say I love being a total noob at a game too! New games are the most fun when they are new after all, witch generaly means you are a noob :) As long as I can find a place where I face the same kind of noobs :)
And I wish my computer could handle Dragon Age :(
also wish i could post on forums by my login broke

Yeah its how you play and what you enjoy, I on the other hand strive to have fun in everything I do so pvp for me doesn't have to be great and be winning if were having fun. Saying that I do like to be as good as possible without going crazy (never did the whole level 19 pimping out character thing in wow but I did spend time at 29 on a modestly geared rogue).
Just completed Dragon Age on easy and loved every minute, others I've seen on twitter hated the game after the deep roads as it got too hard...I don't see the point in growing to hate a game in that way.

What I have allways strived for in multiplayer games is competition. Seeking out players / guilds / teams on the same level. Swaping mmo servers so manny times just to seek out where the action is, is something you learn to live with.
for single player games i usualy play on easy to learn but allways replay on higher difficulties.
peace :)

Things have moved on a long way since the dawn of computer games when we all started. Now the makers have a story they want to give you. Its more like being part of a film, and as such you want to get to the end and see how it finishes.
You are right, the "normal" difficulty is what is designed for the average player but if you want the story who cares. I have never seen the point in the people who make sure they have collected every single item in every level, just enjoy the game damn it!
The first game I ever completed to the end: Bruce Lee (on the ZX Spectrum for all the kids out there)
My favorite game completed and more earned: Super Mario World (Got absolutely everything because I love that game)
Most recent complete: Batman : Arkham Asylum (that is a great game, and I wanted to see the end)
Working on right now : Assassins Creed 2, Uncharted 2, Little Big Planet & Pixel Junk's Shooter (that is great)

Grizz you did complete at least one game before UN Squadron - Double Dragon, and that was without cheats. I could complete that without a continue we played that so much.
Now UN Squadron on the ST was definitely cheating but that was usually you cheating not me as it was if one person survives, the other player can come back to life as a ghost jet. It totally relied on the other player not dying but I had awesome reflexes and eyesight back when I was young. I'd say that's not the case now and as I no longer spend 4-6 hours a day after school playing games, I'd say my gaming level has gone down compared to my teens.
And remember, games from 25 years ago were usually everything on screen at once. I can't play Call of Duty or 3D shooters to save my life but if it depended on Breakout, Invaders or missile command I like my chances. Experience helps but is no substitute for serious practice and insane reflexes. Perhaps another reason for going to Easy as we get older.

I think UN Squradron was the first game I saw the end of that I can remember and that was all thanks to the invincibility cheat or was it money or both? I never finish games EVER!!
Do I play on easy no, do I think why haven't I finished them no, am I bothered no, can I still beat you most likely yes, why can't I bring myself to finish games I'm just not bothered.
GD 25 years of gaming and pride says if it's designed for kids and i've been doing this 25 years I should finish it!

A few years ago I would have been the first person to mock you for that, now though, I can see the appeal of blazing through a game just because there's so many games to get through that between work and other things in life there isn't the time we had when we were kids to grind through games on medium just for the sake of foolish pride but hey in defense of foolish pride, medium in most cases is how the game was intended to be played.
Some of the best games have the difficulty set just right (Batman Arkham Asylum) so with every death you gain enough insight to get to the next bit. I'd say you should still try medium and then just drop down if it is a chore.
Somewhat unrelated but is it just me but 25 years ago, I never expected to finish a game, never ever, no chance (granted the majority of games didn't even have endings then but even if they did, I'd never see them). 20 years ago, I thought I had a chance on some and with the help of cheat codes finished my fair share of them but now if I buy a game I expect to finish it. Without cheating. I don't even know how I have come to this way of thinking.

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to play a game for the sake of a good game. The number of times I have just got stuck in a game and given up I can't count (I'm looking at you Half-Life).
