The greatest of all museums

This week it was my privilege to visit the Natural History and Science museums in London. Two of the most amazing places.

I have always enjoyed going to these museums, they are in the most amazing buildings and they have fantastic displays and exhibits. The main reason for being there is my sons love of the dinosaurs, he has been looking forward too going.

What can be more noble for an institution than to be one of the countries leading museums. They have a simple goal, to enlighten the general public to the amazing natural world around them, and to the wonders of science. These are things close to my heart and I am proud that my children love going to these places to the point they were happy to ignore the toy shops.

The game is afoot

We are still finding our feet here at BGR central command, but something I know is that we are enjoying our selfs. The blog is coming along nicely, so we are ready to try new things.

So the second phase of BGR is about to begin. We don’t only want to write a collaborative blog (though it is fun), we want to try out new things. We each have great ideas for fun projects bubbling away in our heads, and now we might just give them a go.

Nikobe has already started with a great idea that I really like, but I will let him explain that one. I have just started playing with my own idea, and it is already coming along nicely. Its going to take some time to make, then style. But it means I can get some practice in a new language (PHP) and get my head around the concepts in the CodeIgniter project. But so far, so good.

I will be explaining my idea very soon. Hopefully when I have something I can show, but even if I don’t I will put up what its all about, the decisions made, and what’s going to happen next.

Mighty Boosh Live 2008 – Wembley

About a year ago when Boosh mania™ was at its height I was asked if I wanted to go see them live and I jumped at the chance. The downside being the tickets would be for the next December, 12 full months away but I was still really excited.

Allot happens in a year and in this case the third series of the Might Boosh tv series came and went, the second series is one of my favorite things ever with classic episodes all the way through. The second series introduced us to the Shaman council and my favorite episode ever “The Priest and the Beast“.  The third series however was a bit of a let down, not bad by any means it just had so much to live up too after the peak of series 2 it couldn’t hope to match it.  Series 3 did have a few classic moments and one standout episode “Party” where the comedy was clearly focused on the characters and saw the return of the popular shaman council.

Achievement Unlocked

Not going to get in the habit of doing this every month (would be annoying) but just nice to see a month from launch things are still rolling along nicely, I’ve really enjoyed working on the blog so far and look forward to posting/designing allot more over the next year.

Lets talk robots

Lets talk robots, big giant ones.   Anime/cartoons with them in have long been a source of great joy and expense to me.  From Transformers to Robotech and on to the latest and greatest anime, robots rarely fail to deliver entertainment .  They toys well, they vary a lot more and have often cost me a lot more than any VHS or DVD boxset…

I’ll be raving about the latest anime you HAVE to see, anime you really shouldn’t and toys that should be brought – no matter the cost.

I’m scruffy…the janitor

No I’m not scruffy but I will be cleaning up around the place. Just wanted to say hello, unlike Binny I have tried on and off to blog but its just no fun alone so we thought we’d get together and just write about things that would interest us and hope that someone out there <points at tinternet> will be interested as well. Not that we have to have readers, were not attention seekers (well I am a bit).

The site currently doesn’t have a theme of its own (my fault) so we have to use this rather colourful and very well designed one from http://designdisease.com/ who make some rather nice snazzy wordpress themes.
